Website Design For Your Wellness Business BONUS: DIY Brand Design Workshop Exploration

You rock! You are doing great. Let's keep going.

To summarize the first 5 lessons, we got super clear on our brand messaging, including what we do, who we do it for, and WHY they need us.

We also got clear on that big question, ‘What do you want to be known for?

If a friend could not clearly share you as a referral, stating who it is you help and how you help them in an easy to understand way, then you need to go back to last week’s lessons and get clear on this before moving forward. The big idea is that you want to be memorable, different, and shareable.

Ok, moving along now… next we’re looking for other brands that totally inspire us.

In order to design a brand that you love, we need to understand a little bit more about the types of design that you are drawn to.

What style patterns do you prefer? There are so many options out there, but here are some to consider: watercolor, geometric, floral, sparkle, stripes, metallic, polka-dots, abstract, vintage, chalkboard, organic, wood... What do you love, what don’t you love?  Do you have another idea?

What brand aesthetics do you gravitate towards?  Do you want your brand to feel deep, calm, and inviting? Or are you going for a softer, feminine style? Maybe you’re targeting a corporate crowd, and you want your brand design to be more clean and professional?  Perhaps you’re looking to design a brand that feels a little like a style magazine with elegant serif fonts and sophisticated images?

There are literally endless styles of design that you could be drawn to. Take some time to think about other brand designs that you’ve seen and loved, and do a little searching for them online. Try to come up with a list of 8-10 websites or links to brands that you’re particularly drawn to, and inspired by for your own branding.

What parts of the brand/website do you love?

What commonalities do they all share? Look at the colors, font styles, images, etc...

What stands out to you?

Are there certain parts that maybe you could do without?

How do they make you feel?  Is this how you want your audience to feel when they experience YOUR branding?

Lesson Activity

Get yourself in front of a desktop computer or larger screen tablet, and start your search for inspiration. Find the brands that speak to you, and that inspire you as you embark on your own branding journey.

Next, let’s think about the brand colors and tone words that you chose earlier in the lessons. How do they align with your discoveries today? Do they match up well, or are you still feeling a little lost?  You may need to go back and refine your words and colors after today’s exercise, or you might need to dig around a little more to find the brands that accurately convey your brand tone words.  Either way, the idea is to just explore and see what comes up for you.
